What do you like about general surgery?
The combination of high acuity care while using your own hands to fix life-changing problems for patients…and that every day is different.
What is your research interest?
Medical Education. Specific areas of interest include assessing decision-making skills, selection processes, and ED&I.
What do you like about our program?
I like our ability to learn from one another - we are all learning new things from each other constantly. I also like our desire to constantly improve this residency program and commitment to providing good education.
What is your hope for this program?
To train competent, happy, and well-rounded surgeons that I would want to look after my own family.
Do you have a specific role in this program?
I am the Education Lead for Trauma and am responsible for resident oral exams.
What do you like about training residents?
The moments when they’re so proud of or excited about something they did that they can’t wait to call their loved ones to tell them. There’s nothing better.
What is your favourite thing to teach?
It doesn’t matter - anything I know something about that a resident is engaged in and excited to learn about.
What is the thing you’re most proud of in your professional life?
That I’m happy.
What do you do outside of work?
I play football, spend a lot of time with my family, and love to travel to anywhere that’s new.
