What is your hope for this program?
I hope that we are able to provide a comprehensive training program suitable for those who wish to become community general surgeons as well as those wishing to become academic subspecialty surgeons.
What do you like about training residents?
It is so fulfilling to see a resident progress through their training and come back to our rotation in the senior years as a competent and confident surgeon.
What is your favourite thing to teach?
The need for rationale behind every decision and movement you make both in the clinic and in the OR.
What is the thing you're the most proud of in your professional life?
Being a caring and compassionate physician.
What do you do outside of work?
A lot! I have two sons who are 10 and 7, in the winter we ski as a family and my kids play hockey. In my "spare" time, I train and race triathlons.
